Job Description

A highly successful real estate organization that is focused on the acquisition, development and management of commercial properties is looking for a Controller to join their entrepreneurial and highly collaborative team.

This position is a hybrid role, working remotely on Fridays.

Controller Responsibilities:
- Management of the Accounting department (4 direct reports)
- Review the monthly financial statements for multiple entities
- Month-end close including general ledger reconciliations and journal entries
- Advise and train third-party property management companies on accounting requirements
- Preparation of monthly financial statements for more complex properties or development projects
- Review CAM reconciliations
-  Variance analysis and commentary
- Assisting with budget process
- Treasury and cash management
- Investor and lending reporting
- Calculating capital calls and waterfalls
- Maintain schedules for prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, depreciation, and amortization
- Property taxes
- Intercompany transactions
- Process improvements
- Special projects

Controller Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
- Strong commercial real estate industry experience
- Understanding of investment structures
- Yardi experience
- CPA, MBA, and/or Public Accounting experience a plus
- Strong leadership and communication skills
